•  The Academic Module is required for admission at UK colleges and universities in the fields of medicine, law, linguistic sciences, journalism, library science (a minimum of 7 points) and agriculture, mathematics, telecommunications (a minimum of 6.5 points). A successful preparation for this module requires a vocabulary of 12 000 words, phrases, slang expressions and an absolutely fluent oral exposition.

•  The General Teaching Module is required when applying for practical jobs such as air control, engineering, applied and industrial sciences (a minimum of 6.5 points). For any other fields a minimum of 5.5 points is acceptable. A successful preparation for this module requires a vocabulary of 9 000 words, good command of the grammar system, fluent oral exposition and commenting on general topics.

What is the format of the test?

LISTENING: 4 sections, 40 questions, 30 minutes
READING: 3 sections, 40 questions, 60 minutes
WRITING: 2 topics (150 и 250 words), 60 minutes
SPEAKING: conversation on different topics, 10-15 minutes

How to register for IELTS

The registration takes place at the British Council on 7 Krakra Str, Sofia, from Monday to Thursday from 2 till 4 p.m. and Friday from 9 to 12 a.m. and closes 7 days before the test itself. The test fee is 195 leva and the test is administered once a month.

When are the score reports received?

Ten working days after the test you will receive your score report at the mailing address indicated when registering. The IELTS certificate has a two-year validity
